Australian Government grants for short-term and semester study, internships, practicums and research in 37 Indo-Pacific host locations, run through Australian universities. Average student grants in the 2026 round were about AUD 4,500 (4 to 5 weeks), AUD 6,000 (6 to 7 weeks) and AUD 7,000 (8 to 9 weeks).

Who can apply

Australian citizens aged 18 or over enrolled in an undergraduate course at an Australian onshore campus, who are not citizens or permanent residents of the host location. At least 70 percent of students on each project must be aged 18 to 28, and a student can receive no more than two NCP student grants.

Deadline

Next deadline not announced yet. Universities apply to DFAT for project funding (the 2027 round closed on 4 August 2026), then select students for their own funded programs. Students should ask their university’s international office about current places.
