Research stays of 1 to 12 months at a Japanese host institution, with a monthly stipend of 362,000 yen (200,000 yen for non PhD holders), round trip airfare, a 200,000 yen settling in allowance for stays of 3 months or more, and insurance.
Who can apply
PhD students expected to finish within two years, or researchers with a PhD obtained within six years, who are nationals or permanent residents of an eligible country. Previous JSPS postdoctoral fellows are not eligible.
Deadline
January 8, 2027: The 2nd FY2027 open call deadline is 8 January 2027 at 17:00 JST, for arrival from 1 August 2027. The Japanese host institution submits the application, so its internal deadline is earlier; a 3rd round closes on 4 June 2027.
