Supports about 10 students entering master’s or doctoral programmes abroad. It pays JPY 400,000 a month plus tuition of up to JPY 3,000,000 a year for the first two years, for up to 2 years (master’s) or 5 years (doctorate).

Who can apply

Residents of Japan aged 30 or under on 1 April of the start year, including foreign nationals with Japanese permanent residence. Applicants already studying or living abroad are not eligible.

Deadline

Next deadline not announced yet. The FY2027 round ran from 1 to 20 August 2026 and has closed. The foundation plans to post details of the FY2028 round in early June 2027.
