Grants for US citizens to study, research or teach abroad for an academic year, run by the US Department of State.

Who can apply

US citizens enrolled in a degree programme, or graduates who will hold a bachelor’s degree by the start date and do not hold a PhD. Non-enrolled applicants should typically have 7 years or less of professional experience.

Deadline

Next deadline not announced yet. The 2027 to 2028 competition closed on 6 October 2026. The 2028 to 2029 cycle is due to launch in spring 2027; no deadline is posted yet.
