Opportunities for teachers by subject: fellowships, scholarships and teaching abroad
Every international opportunity for teachers in our listings, sorted by subject: English, other languages, science, maths, social sciences, special education and early childhood, with official links.

A physics teacher and an English teacher are looking for very different things. One wants a fortnight at a particle physics laboratory; the other may want a funded master’s in language teaching or a year in a school abroad. Most lists lump them together.
This guide sorts every international opportunity for teachers in our listings by subject, so you can go straight to yours. Programmes open to teachers of any subject come first, because they apply to everyone. Every programme was checked on its official page on October 30, 2026.
You can also filter these programmes yourself: on our Opportunities page, tick Teachers under “Who can apply” and then choose your teaching subject.

How to choose
- Start with your subject, then check eligibility. Many programmes limit which countries can apply, such as the Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching (15 countries) or EPIK (seven English-speaking countries plus India).
- Note who runs the application. Fulbright and MEXT programmes are run through the U.S. or Japanese embassy in your country, which sets its own deadline.
- Check what is covered. Some programmes pay a salary or a stipend; others, like CERN’s international teacher programme, cover accommodation but not travel.
- Prepare a short statement about your teaching. Most applications ask what you will bring back to your school. Our guide on how to write a scholarship motivation letter helps.
