Athletic Financial Awards are scholarships or bursaries tied to playing on a U SPORTS varsity team, capped at tuition and compulsory fees per academic year (one AFA unit equals 100% of tuition and mandatory fees). Since 2024 to 2025, students admitted to a degree programme can receive an entering award.
Who can apply
Open to admitted, enrolled degree students on varsity teams; member universities such as UVic, Calgary and Thompson Rivers award AFA-governed athletic scholarships specifically to international students. Requires varsity-level ability and selection by a coach.
