A three-week, on-campus training program at Stanford’s Center on Democracy, Development and the Rule of Law for about 30 mid-career democracy, development and rule-of-law leaders. Stanford covers accommodation, meals and local transport, while fellows typically pay their own airfare, with a limited need-based travel fund.
Who can apply
Practitioners with at least 10 to 12 years of experience, aged 28 or older by July 2027, who are from and live in a country where democracy is not well entrenched; applicants from the US, Canada, Australia, Japan and EU member states are not accepted. Solid written and spoken English is required.
Deadline
January 12, 2027: Applications and recommendation letters are due by 11:59 pm PST on Tuesday, 12 January 2027. The program runs from 18 July to 6 August 2027.
