International students in the Discovery Program get a tuition reduction that brings fees from 1,339,500 JPY a year down to the Japanese student level (642,960 JPY expected). MEXT, JASSO and programme scholarships are also available, and full waivers go to particularly outstanding students.
Who can apply
Applicants who meet one of the listed academic qualifications (for example high school graduation by 30 September 2027) and can get a residence status that allows university study. English scores are needed unless the applicant had 5 or more years of English-medium secondary education; Japanese is not required.
Deadline
January 8, 2027: Application Period 2 for October 2027 entry runs 21 December 2026 to 8 January 2027, closing at 17:00 JST. Period 1 (for April and October 2027) closed on 15 October 2026.
