Supports Australian PhD students doing research in the US for 4 to 8 months, or students enrolling in a US graduate degree for up to 2 years. All awards include provision for international travel; the official instructions do not state a dollar value.

Who can apply

Australian citizens who are not US citizens, dual US citizens or US permanent residents, who live in Australia and hold (or will complete) an undergraduate degree. Applicants must not have held a J1 or J2 visa in the 24 months before the program starts.

Deadline

Next deadline not announced yet. The 2027 to 2028 round ran from 12 March to 1 July 2026. Fulbright Australia says applications are generally open February to July and to check back in February for 2028 to 2029 awards.
